Several times a month, Aly, a nurse at the Dawady health center, ventures out on his motorcycle to the outlying villages, accompanying the Kaicedrat mobile team.
This mission consists of carrying out check-ups on pregnant women and young children in around twenty villages located between 1 and 2 hours from the health center. These rural areas, which are difficult to access, are often reached only by tracks, used by the inhabitants on donkey-drawn carts or, more rarely,
by motorcycle.
Regular medical follow-up by Aly and the team enables early detection of any health problems. When necessary, patients are referred to the Dawady health center for appropriate treatment.
This program, set up by the Le Kaicedrat association, has received financial support from The Ivory Foundation since 2015, aiming to improve access to healthcare for rural populations and reduce maternal and infant mortality in this region of eastern Senegal.
