The first training course organised in the new sewing workshop at Levi’s Nek Farm has just been successfully completed!
Led by Patricia Khumalo, head of the sewing workshop at Jardin des Savoir-Faire in Eswatini, this session enabled her to pass on her expertise to her future counterpart in Lesotho, as well as to a first cohort of eight young girls from the school for the deaf and hard of hearing in Leribe and women from the Levi’s Nek community.
At the end of the training, the participants had mastered the art of making shirts and tunics for school uniforms. These skills enable them to produce items for the local market and generate a sustainable income.
To encourage them in this professionalisation, The Ivory Foundation ordered new uniforms for every pupil at St Paul’s School, which it has been supporting for 10 years.
This initiative not only allows them to showcase their skills, but also to generate sustainable income for the community.
